In an active series of updates, Microsoft has launched a fresh Windows 11 version for users in the Windows Insider Program who are part of the Canary Channel. The most recent edition is marked as build number 26244, and it’s not just any regular update.

It includes new features like a game pass recommendation card on the Settings homepage or an “Add Now” button to add a recovery email address to your Microsoft account. Here’s everything you need to know about Canary 26244.

First off, the Game Pass recommendation card. If you frequently play games on your PC, this fresh addition may immediately catch your attention when launching the Settings homepage. It was created to enhance the gaming experience and reveal that Microsoft focuses on gamers within its ecosystem.

The “Add Now” button for recovery email addresses is an important change in this update, focusing on enhancing account security. We have come across many dreadful tales about locked-out accounts and losing access to them. Microsoft attempts to avoid these dangers by pushing users to include crucial recovery information. It’s an easy action that could prevent much frustration later on.

To ensure you don’t lose access to your Microsoft account, we’re beginning to roll out a new banner with a “Add now” button under Settings > Account for adding a recovery email address if you haven’t added one for your Microsoft account yet. This will only show if you are signed in with a Microsoft account.

Furthermore, general improvements and fixes have been made overall. This enhances the experience for Insiders who are using this build. The Windows Backup enhancements now include sound settings in the backup process, along with adjustments to Font settings, showing that Microsoft is fine-tuning the system for a more personal and efficient user experience.

This update also has known problems that we Insiders have been experiencing. A few of us are still stuck on previous builds, and there are display issues with the Windows Update page in some languages. These small obstacles serve as a reminder; while the Canary Channel is exciting for trying out new things, it is equally important to exercise caution because nothing here is entirely complete yet.

Workaround for those experiencing issues or keen to try the most recent build: Microsoft gives a suggestion that includes doing a clean install from the latest ISO. It’s good to remember, being on the newest version can sometimes mean dealing with technical problems and needing patience for solving them.

Windows 11 Insider Canary build 26244 is an interesting blend of fresh elements and common beta build problems. Whether you are a gamer who wants to know what the Game Pass recommendation card can provide or a user concerned about safeguarding your account, this update has something for everyone. However, remember that an Insider’s journey may have its ups and downs.
